THE FIRST “STONE” LAID OF THE CLUSTER PAVILIONS FOR EXPO MILAN 2015
Brunico, 2nd July 2014 –This morning the “first stone” was laid of the themed Cluster Pavilions “Bio-Mediterraneo, Isole, Zone Aride, Cereali e Tuberi” of the Universal Exposition 2015.
Thus begins the project assigned by Expo 2015 S.p.A. to the Rubner Group, European leader in the public and residential wood-building sector, based on the agreement signed last March for the assignment of one of the event’s key components, with a contract value of around Euro 21 million. The undisputed star of this innovative project is wood: a natural, ecological and flexible raw material, and one that fully embraces the philosophy of the 2015 Universal Exposition. The “laying of the first stone” occurred in the presence of a representative of the Expo 2015 S.p.A. team behind the Cluster project, and Alessandro Lacedelli, Managing Director of Rubner Objektbau. And it is Rubner Objektbau, a Company of the Rubner Group and leading General Contractor in the European wood-building market that has been assigned responsibility for the project. This is thanks to their unique know-how in the design and realization of large “turnkey” orders in all sectors of wood building: from residential to public, and from schools to hotels and business. For the realisation of the exhibition pavilions, the Rubner Group is also tapping into the experience of Rubner Holzbau, a company of the Group specialised in the construction of large projects in glued laminated timber. The work for the construction of the themed cluster pavilions – multi-purpose exhibit spaces which combine activities and events for the countries which are not able to set up their own pavilion – will be completed, based on the contract, by 30 November 2014. The area includes 43 buildings dedicated to four thematic areas: Bio-Mediterranean, Islands, Arid Zones and Grains and Tubers, for a total gross volume (total of 43 buildings) of 78,380 m³ and a total gross area (total of 43 buildings) of 7,400 m². Every space will be customised and characterised by distinctive sections typical of the areas of the world that they represent, and by a multi-use common area.
